6 reasons why 49ers 2021 season was still awesome (it really was)

Reason No. 4: 49ers can finally laugh at the Seahawks

San Francisco got deep into the playoffs. The Seattle Seahawks, meanwhile, did not.

Sure, Hawks fans will still happily point out their team swept the season series by going 2-0 against the 49ers in 2021, and the Niners didn’t exactly do much of anything to ensure quarterback Russell Wilson and Co. failed to make the playoffs for only the second time in his career.

But, after so many years of Seattle dominating this particular NFC West rivalry, it’s about time San Francisco and its fans can laugh and clap back at whatever Seahawks swagger remains after they went 7-10.

Will this mark the end of the Wilson era in Seattle? That’s an open-ended question and one that may forever alter the rivalry.

Still, the 49ers achieved a goal of making the postseason, while the Seahawks fell well short of theirs.

Something like this hasn’t happened in a long time, and Niners fans can feel pretty good about the tables (hopefully) turning after being on the wrong side of the rivalry for the bulk of the last 10 years.
