No. 3: George Kittle will have at least 8 catches

In the regular season, this would be a common occurrence. However, in four career playoff starts, tight end George Kittle has been a complete non-factor. To be blunt, his totals aren’t even worth mentioning.

In his five-year career, “The People’s Tight End” has 335 receptions for almost 4,500 yards and 20 touchdowns. He’s surpassed 80 receptions twice and has two 1,000-yard seasons.

In fact, prior to Deebo Samuel’s breakout, Kittle was the go-to guy.

So, why is a breakout performance from him such a necessity? Quite simply, when Kittle finds his stride, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo gets comfortable. This allows Jimmy G to be productive.

Last week in Green Bay, Kittle had his man beat but failed to catch a pass that was an absolute touchdown. The 49ers couldn’t convert and were forced to put.

Two possessions later, Garoppolo completed to Kittle, a beautiful one-handed grab on the sidelines. This sparked a series of catches resulting in a trip to the red zone.

Translation: Get Kittle the ball, Garoppolo finds his rhythm.

Up until now, the run game has served the Niners well, but in order to beat the Rams for a third time this season, they’ll need a big day from their quarterback.

If Kittle and Garoppolo find chemistry on Sunday, the 49ers will find SoFi Stadium in two weeks.
