No. 3: 49ers RT Tom Compton vs. Seahawks EDGE Rasheem Green

The Seahawks don’t enter Week 13 as one of the league’s most prolific sack-producing teams, boasting only 18 thus far in the season, while 49ers EDGE Nick Bosa already has 11 in 2021 on his own.

Still, an effective pass rush might be the only way the Hawks defense negates what’s been a ball-controlling Niners offense as of late, and there’s a particular matchup worth exploiting here.

San Francisco is still somewhat undecided as to who should be filling the void left by now-injured right tackle Mike McGlinchey, although it appears head coach Kyle Shanahan has honed in on veteran lineman Tom Compton over the fifth-round rookie, Jaylon Moore, to start the rest of the year in McGlinchey’s stead.

Compton has already surrendered two sacks and eight quarterback pressures this season on just 95 pass-blocking snaps, according to Pro Football Focus, meaning Seattle might want to line up one of its “better” pass-rushers opposite him.

With only three sacks on the year, EDGE Rasheem Green isn’t the pinnacle of pass-rushing success, but he does have a notable 13 quarterback hurries and six quarterback hits, meaning he might be a factor in getting at quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

Hopefully, for the 49ers’ sake, Compton is up to par.
