No. 1: 49ers must handle their business at home vs. Falcons, Texans

Overlooked in all of the leadups to San Francisco’s playoff push is the fact there are two home games remaining Kyle Shanahan and Co. can’t afford to lose.

The 49ers have only won two games at Levi’s Stadium this season. And while they’ve both taken place during their recent hot streak, the Niners’ remaining home bouts against the Falcons and Texans shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Especially at the risk of both being the proverbial and ever-so-worrisome trap games.

It’s hard to envision San Francisco losing at home to the lowly Texans, especially after experiencing something of a mini bye week after playing the Titans on Thursday the previous week. Yet Houston pulled off a shocking victory of its own over Tennessee two weeks ago, so the 49ers can’t overlook that contest.

And even though the Falcons offense and defense have both been terrible this season, the Niners can certainly recall falling victim to them late in 2019 amid a Super Bowl run in what proved to be a trap-game pitfall.

With four road games left on the schedule and at least three wins needed to clinch a Wild Card berth, ensuring San Francisco wins both of its remaining home bouts is as important as ever down the stretch.
