49ers Stud No. 4: Tight End George Kittle

OK, so tight end George Kittle might have had only one catch for 13 yards during the game, and the stat heads out there would say he wasn’t much of a factor.

Yet Kittle drew a key holding penalty on a third-down play that would have otherwise flopped, and the San Francisco offense received a new set of downs that eventually translated into points in the first half.

And Kittle was his usual self in the blocking game, too, which netted 208 yards and averaged 5.3 yards per carry.

But Kittle winds up on this list for an entirely different reason.

After the game, Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer criticized the 49ers by saying, “These guys hold every play. They don’t want to call it every play. Until they start calling it every play, they’re not going to stop doing it.”

Kittle’s response was epic:

"It’s football. Refs throw a flag, refs don’t throw a flag. It’s just the game. But if you’re going to sit on the sideline and complain about holding the entire time, tell your guys to make better plays."

That’s a massive win for Kittle and a loss for Zimmer. Hands down.
