From a statistical perspective, the 49ers should have been able to ride a strong performance from their pass-catching corps to a victory in Week 9.

In addition to George Kittle’s 100-yard game, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk had a nearly identical performance.

Both good and bad.

Aiyuk had his own fumble lost after what was otherwise an impressive grab in the red zone that could have cut into Arizona’s lead. Instead, the Cardinals grabbed the takeaway and managed to turn it into three points, negating whatever momentum the Niners generated up to that point.

Aside from that, though, Aiyuk was impressive with 89 receiving yards on six carries with a touchdown. It’s good to see him out of Kyle Shanahan’s doghouse.

Fellow wideout Deebo Samuel had a slowish game, relatively speaking, with five catches for 63 yards even though he’s currently dealing with a calf injury.

But Samuel is also dealing with drops, having one in the game along with fellow wideout Mohamed Sanu, who continues to get snaps over the younger, more versatile wide receiver, Trent Sherfield.
