49ers Stud: Running Back Elijah Mitchel

Running back Elijah Mitchell continues to dazzle in his rookie campaign, as he finished Sunday’s game with 137 rushing yards and a touchdown on 17 carries. Perhaps, the most impressive stat from Mitchell in this game was that 135 of his 137 rushing yards came after contact.

With Mitchell running the ball well, and Jimmy Garoppolo threatening the defense down the field, the opposing defense was unable to zero in on a singular threat.

Mitchell’s 137 rushing yards were good for the most out of any player in Week 8. He now trails only Najee Harris, the running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers, in rookie rushing yards this season.

Despite the high draft capital spent on fellow tailback Trey Sermon, and the familiarity of the offense JaMycal Hasty has, head coach Kyle Shanahan continues to feature Mitchell.

Which has shown to be the right move, Mitchell has been far more productive.
