No. 2: 49ers EDGE Nick Bosa

Along with Raheem Mostert, another reason the 49ers were able to throttle the Packers in the 2020 NFC Championship was EDGE Nick Bosa.

Bosa registered a sack and a quarterback hit in that game, and he also picked up another sack during the Niners’ regular-season beatdown of Green Bay earlier that season.

And one could make the argument Bosa’s context for Week 3 will be even better than 2019 and January of 2020.

The Packers are without star left tackle David Bakhtiari, who is out with an injury, meaning fill-in tackle Elgton Jenkins will frequently be tasked with trying to stop Bosa. To date, Jenkins has already surrendered a sack and four pressures, and he’ll be facing his toughest task this season by facing off against Bosa. From the Packers’ vantage point, Jenkins protecting Aaron Rodgers will be vital.

Bosa already has three sacks on the year through two games, which is already a third of the way towards tying his rookie mark of nine.

If San Francisco wants to stymie Rodgers, letting Bosa be at his best will be a prime way to do it.
