Trey Lance has a higher ceiling than Jimmy Garoppolo

It’s obvious, even from Trey Lance’s limited play in the preseason, he has a much higher ceiling than Jimmy Garoppolo due to Lance’s ability to move around freely as well as his extremely strong throwing arm.

While Jimmy G is the more accurate quarterback of the two, at least right now, his ability to throw downfield has always been his most glaring weakness.

Lance, on the other hand, does not suffer from this same issue and has the tools to place the ball virtually anywhere on the field. While his accuracy is slightly lacking, he has the ability to make video game-like throws downfield to any of the team’s big-time playmakers.

This aspect of having a true dual-threat quarterback on the roster allows for head coach Kyle Shanahan to truly unlock the playbook and employ an offensive game plan that has virtually no limits.

This fact alone should tempt the Niners brass to let Lance get out there as early as possible so that he can start to improve right away rather than wait until possibly next year.
