No. 1: Trey Lance wins NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year

This prediction kind of goes hand in hand with the first prediction, stating Trey Lance can be named San Francisco’s starting signal-caller early, as it would be impossible for him to achieve this feat without being the team’s top quarterback, but wouldn’t this be insane?

Lance embodies everything that the modern-day quarterback needs to be to succeed in the ever-evolving league that is the NFL.

With opposing edge rushers becoming faster and faster every year, quarterbacks need to either have an ultra-elite offensive line in front of them, which the 49ers do not have, or they must have the ability to escape pressure to some degree.

Lance has an absurd amount of evasive ability, and will no doubt run circles around teams once he is given the reins. So it is not out of the question he would be able to adapt fast to NFL speed and show the league why the Niners took him with such a high draft pick.

Lance’s athletic ability, mixed with his extremely powerful arm, is perfect for the modern-day game and would no doubt impress a number of NFL writers and analysts. Of course, Lance would be in quite the competition to be able to achieve this honor, as this year’s rookie crop is filled with potential stars at the quarterback position, such as the Jacksonville Jaguars‘ Trevor Lawrence and the New York Jets‘ Zach Wilson, to name a few.

With Lawrence already being touted as the early favorite, Lance would need to display some magical stuff to take home the rookie of the year award, but no one can say he doesn’t possess the tools to do so.

Hopefully, Lance is able to show everyone that he was worth the third overall pick in the 2021 draft and really put the league on notice.
