No. 3: 49ers Wide Receiver Mohamed Sanu

This might not be a popular decision among many of the other San Francisco wide receivers, namely Brandon Aiyuk and Trent Sherfield. And some may view the 49ers’ wideout room as being questionable down the depth chart anyway.

The kicker, though, is veteran receiver Mohamed Sanu is a bit of an excess commodity. A valuable one, provided he’s healthy, which is what makes him a potentially tradable asset, even though it wouldn’t be for much more than a late-round draft pick.

A keynote here is players like Sanu, Jauan Jennings and Jalen Hurd all have the big-body feature, which is an advantage, yet neither are pegged to be major impact players for the Niners this season.

At least not with Aiyuk, Sherfield and Deebo Samuel pegged to be the top three wideouts on the regular-season roster. If San Francisco is forced to dig deep into the depth chart, the offense is going to be in some modest trouble anyway.

Plus, both Hurd and Jennings fit the bill for a big-bodied wideout anyway. Even though Sanu’s veteran savvy has its merits, the 49ers may be in better shape getting something for him and banking on their younger players instead.
