49ers 53-man roster: Special teams

Kicker: Robbie Gould

Punter: Mitch Wishnowsky

Long-Snapper: Taybor Pepper

There wasn’t much of any drama for the Niners on special teams, at least as far as their specialists were concerned.

True, veteran kicker Robbie Gould had some accuracy questions on some preseason kicks. But given the nature of his lucrative contract, he’s not going anywhere anytime soon.

Neither is the battery of Taybor Pepper and Mitch Wishnowsky.

The only massive question mark was going to be who earned the rights to return kickoffs and punts, as that was an open-ended question in the wake of wide receiver Richie James being waived with an injury designation.

Wide receivers Nsimba Webster and Travis Benjamin didn’t make the squad, which hints at second-year pro Brandon Aiyuk potentially being featured on punt returns.
