49ers vs. Chargers: Winners, losers from preseason Week 2 win

49ers Loser: Offensive Lineman Dakoda Shepley
It would be awfully cool if a former CFL standout, offensive lineman Dakoda Shepley could make the 53-man roster as a backup. And with San Francisco in need of a No. 2 center to support the starter, Alex Mack, Shepley was fully in the mix along with fellow lineman, Jake Brendel, to assume this role.
Except for the fact Shepley did not impress at all versus the Chargers.
As an opener, Shepley was flagged for two false starts, which won’t bode well for his 53-man roster chances. And on top of that, there was a fumbled exchange on the snap between him and third-string quarterback Nate Sudfeld.
With regards to fumbled snaps, it’s hard to place blame on one single player, and both can easily be at fault at the same time.
Yet Shepley’s roster chances just took a serious hit, and there’s a good chance the 49ers will use that roster spot on another player, potentially giving Brendel the nod over the former CFL star.
