No. 3: 49ers continue to take Nick Bosa’s recovery slow

Granted, health is far more important than getting a substantial amount of practice reps during training camp. Especially for a high-profile player like EDGE Nick Bosa, who essentially doesn’t have anything to prove aside from his recovery after tearing his ACL early last season.

Bosa has partaken in some activities during camp, but he’s also undergone plenty of “maintenance days” as well.

It’s something defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans addressed in a recent press conference:

"The main thing for Bosa is just him taking the time to make sure he has the confidence in his knee to go out there and perform at a high level. Once he gets, you know, the reps he needs, gets the confidence in his knee and he’ll be fine."

Additionally, EDGE Samson Ebukam has been held back with minor injuries. Combine that with another pass-rusher, Dee Ford, working his way back from a serious back injury suffered last year (Ford has nevertheless been able to participate in full 11-on-11 drills), one can see one of two things here.

Either the 49ers are being extra cautious with their star outside pass-rushers, which is the hopeful side of things.

Or players like Bosa and Ebukam might be nowhere close to 100 percent in time for the regular season.

If it’s the latter, it’s a worry.
