No. 4: Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson wins 2021 MVP award
San Francisco fans probably won’t like to think about this, but even they can acknowledge the Seattle Seahawks would be a .500 team if it weren’t for quarterback Russell Wilson being the player he is.
Wilson was snubbed last year in favor of the Green Bay Packers’ quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, despite the former passing for a career-high 40 touchdowns a year ago and being the mark of consistency ever since 2021. And it seems to be a regular yearly occurrence Wilson gets short-changed on MVP votes anyway.
While there could ultimately be other players more deserving in 2021, such as the Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes or even the Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen, perhaps this year marks the time when voters realize Wilson’s overall impact on the team in Washington state.
Especially considering the Seahawks defense remains questionable, and it’ll have to be Wilson driving the offense to even higher levels than he did before.
What impact this has on Seattle’s regular-season finish and playoff seeding is anyone’s guess, but it’s probably a good guess to suggest Wilson once again propels the Seahawks back into the postseason once more.
