Jimmy Garoppolo: 3 trade spots for 49ers QB before Week 1

Jimmy Garoppolo Trade Destination No. 2: Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos made a notable move for a quarterback this offseason, but it wasn’t necessarily the one many thought would happen.
Instead of using a high-profile pick in the NFL Draft on a rookie quarterback, the Broncos ensured the incumbent, Drew Lock, would at least have some competition when they traded for former Carolina Panthers quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
Exciting, right?
Look, no Lock- or Bridgewater-led Broncos team is going to compete with the likes of quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Heck, Denver might actually be third in the AFC West pecking order behind the Los Angeles Chargers, too.
Now, this isn’t to say Jimmy Garoppolo would turn the Broncos into a Super Bowl contender over a team like the Chiefs, but he’d at least help close the gap a bit. Bridgewater isn’t the answer, and all the signs are pointing towards Lock not being the guy either.
With nearly $29 million in cap space and a slew of offensive playmakers already, Denver has both the capital and context to make a move for Garoppolo before Week 1. Plus, the Broncos and 49ers general manager John Lynch already have a long working relationship, so there shouldn’t be too many obstacles on that front either.
