No. 6 Fantasy Football Bust to Avoid: WR Kenny Golladay, Giants

Speaking of Kenny Golladay, he’s also another massive fantasy bust candidate heading into 2021.

Not unlike Will Fuller, Golladay made a name for himself catching passes from now-Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford when they were with the Detroit Lions. And while the Lions’ teamwide situation last year was ugly, at least Stafford’s high-profile arm helped turn Golladay into a household name and a player many think is a top-10 wide receiver in the league.

Unlike Evan Engram, whose ADP is reflecting the idea fantasy owners are bearish on his value this season, Golladay’s ADP of 5.06 suggests his draft positioning will far exceed the expected levels of production for wide receivers selected in Round 5.

True, this is typically WR2 or FLEX territory for most teams. But even then, the concerns about Daniel Jones’ maturation and passing abilities aren’t going to help Golladay get close to the back-to-back 1,000-plus yard campaigns he enjoyed in 2018 and 2019 when Stafford was feeding him the ball.

Plus, the Lions never featured a top-tier rushing attack during Golladay’s tenure in Detroit, meaning his own receiving numbers were inflated during that span.

With running back Saquon Barkley returning from last year’s ACL tear, the Giants offense is expected to be much more balanced, and it could easily lean heavily on the rushing attack if Jones struggles.

And it’s likely he will.
