49ers Secondary

SS Jaquiski Tartt

FS Jimmie Ward

CBs (boundary) Jason Verrett, Emmanuel Moseley

CB (nickel) K’Waun Williams

The same secondary as last year, sans Richard Sherman.

Jason Verrett stayed healthy and showed his undeniable talent, while K’Waun Williams did nothing to tank his own ability as a top-tier nickel cornerback. Jaquiski Tartt continues to be plagued with injuries, but when he stays healthy, he is one of the better safeties in the league, and Jimmie Ward is one of the best safeties in the league, though he’s unable to get the counting stats that are indicative of his ability.

The only question mark, besides health, is Emmanuel Moseley, who was in and out of the starting lineup last year.

While it’s unlikely rookie Ambry Thomas is able to overtake him, it’s a position that might not be settled as the year goes on.
