49ers Cornerbacks (6)

CB Jason Verrett

CB Emmanuel Moseley

SCB K’Waun Williams

SCB Deommodore Lenoir

CB Ambry Thomas

CB Dontae Johnson

At least for the 2021 season, the cornerback group is pretty well established in terms of who will start and who will make the team behind them.

Jason Verrett is back on a one-year deal and will start at one outside corner spot, likely opposite Emmanuel Moseley barring a training camp push by one of the rookies, most notably former Michigan Wolverine Ambry Thomas.

The slot corner position will be held down by K’Waun Williams, also back on a one-year deal, who has been one of the best and most unsung players at his position over the last several seasons. He’ll be backed up by rookie Deommodore Lenoir out of Oregon, who will also likely serve as the heir apparent to Williams in the slot.

That leaves a single spot for a whole bunch of guys to fight for including oft-injured Tim Harris, Ken Webster, Mark Fields, and veteran Dontae Johnson, who has been on-again/off-again with the organization for years.

At the moment, a slight edge goes to the seasoned veteran, although all things being equal I’m sure the team would prefer to see someone like Harris win the job and stay healthy all season.
