49ers updated roster bubble watch after 2021 OTAs

49ers Bubble Watch: Tight End
Lock: Ross Dwelley, George Kittle
Strong Bubble: Charlie Woerner
Weak Bubble: MyCole Pruitt
Long Shot: Josh Pederson
The top two spots on San Francisco’s depth chart at tight end are set with George Kittle and Ross Dwelley.
After those names, however, it’s another wide-open competition.
Does Kyle Shanahan keep four tight ends on his 53-man roster? It’s possible, as he’s done so before. But considering it’s not necessarily a strong need and would cut into at least one of the other positions where depth would be needed more, it seems a bigger possibility only three are kept.
The undrafted rookie, Josh Pederson, could end up being a perfect developmentary candidate for the practice squad, but the real battle should come down between second-year pro Charlie Woerner and the recent free-agent pickup, MyCole Pruitt.
Both Woerner and Pruitt are better known for their blocking technique, although the latter has slightly more upside as a pass-catcher, making him a potential dark-horse upset candidate.
