Even the most die-hard 49ers fans agree with this placement.
Russell Wilson is the bona fide No. 1 quarterback within the NFC West, and there’s no challenging that. Not anytime soon, at least.

The seven-time Pro Bowler put together arguably his best season as a pro in 2020, tossing for 4,212 yards, which was only seven yards shy of his career-best mark set back in 2016, a career-best 40 passing touchdowns against 12 interceptions, a 105.1 passer rating with an additional 513 rush yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
Yes, Wilson is elite. And he could have been in top consideration for an MVP accolade last year, too.
Wilson falls into that tiny category of quarterbacks who can carry their teams regardless of the talent levels surrounding him. Perhaps this is a reason why Wilson has demonstrated some frustrations about his context, as Seattle hasn’t exactly done him a lot of favors to protect him and give him weapons over the years.
But that’s not the point. As long as Wilson is playing, the Seahawks have remained perennial Super Bowl contenders.
That’s not likely to change this season either. And there are more than a handful of concrete reasons why he’s the No. 1 quarterback within the division.
