Richard Sherman: 4 teams that could sign former 49ers cornerback

No. 3: Richard Sherman rejoins Gus Bradley with Raiders
Some of Richard Sherman’s most productive years came with the Seattle Seahawks when now-Las Vegas Raiders defensive coordinator was organizing the defenses there.
Bradley’s Cover 3 zone-style scheme is exactly what former Niners defensive coordinator Robert Saleh installed back in 2017, and Sherman thrived in this system back in his heyday.
Plus, at this point in his career, Sherman might be limited to a zone-only defense anyway where he can use his football smarts, experience and physicality to match up against some of the tough pass-catchers he’d have to face within the AFC West.
The Raiders have just over $4 million in cap space, so they’d have to get a bit creative in order to absorb Sherman’s asking price, which probably ends up being in the range of $6 million. But if one thing is clear, Las Vegas is awfully short on defensive talent and could have a tough time stopping even the most mediocre of offenses, let alone top-performing groups like those of the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers, whom the Raiders will face twice a year.
Las Vegas might not be a contender anytime soon. But the established chemistry and prior success with Bradley, along with staying on the West Coast, make the Raiders a real possibility if no other suitors pan out.
