Loser: 49ers QB Josh Rosen

One of the players who reportedly isn’t getting any time from 7-on-7 or full-team drills so far during OTAs is reserve quarterback Josh Rosen.

At least according to Sports Illustrated’s Grant Cohn, who pointed out during one practice session how all three of the 49ers’ candidates for third-string quarterback — Rosen, Nate Sudfeld and Josh Johnson — weren’t getting any reps whatsoever.

Considering Sudfeld has guaranteed money in his one-year contract and previously worked under Niners quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello, he has the advantage over Rosen, the former first-round NFL Draft pick who has since flamed out with the Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

There was a small thought earlier this offseason, particularly before Trey Lance was in the fray, Rosen could somehow find a home in San Francisco and work back towards being a promising signal-caller under the tutelage of Scangarello and head coach Kyle Shanahan.

Yet it doesn’t appear as if the 49ers have a lot of vested interest in developing Rosen, meaning he’ll likely be searching for a new place to play by the time roster cuts are announced later this summer.
