No. 4: With the 49ers secondary always looking to improve, Nelson Lokombo can vastly change their defense

Defensive back Nelson Lokombo went second overall to the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the 2021 CFL Draft.

Lokombo attended the University of Saskatchewan and was named the best defensive player in USports.

Scouting Report:

"The reigning Presidents’ Trophy winner as U Sport’s best defensive player, Lokombo seems to play at a different speed than everyone else. With tremendous instincts and the ability to close in a heartbeat, Lokombo is the rare Canadian who could play almost any spot in the secondary."

If you need any reassurance if this Canadian is good, he’s from Abbotsford, B.C. Which is the home of Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool.

Abbotsford typically pumps out fantastic football players. It’s a hotspot for talent, and the 49ers will want to scout Lokombo to shore up their secondary.

Even though the Niners added two corners in the 2021 NFL Draft, Michigan’s Ambry Thomas and Oregon’s Deommodore Lenoir, finding some competitive depth with potentially long-term development help could be a wise move.
