49ers depth chart: Post-NFL Draft 53-man roster prediction for 2021

Barring any movement in the trade market for Jimmy Garoppolo, the quarterback room is very likely to both include three players and for those three to be those listed here.

The only real question mark is Nate Sudfeld, whom the 49ers signed this offseason to a minimum salary, but with one notable exception: the contract includes $252,000 in guaranteed money.

This doesn’t necessarily mean Sudfeld is going to make the roster, but of the other quarterbacks on the team not named Trey Lance, he’s the only one with such a distinction. Neither Garoppolo, Josh Rosen, nor Josh Johnson has any guaranteed money on their current deals.

Again, all this could shake up if the Niners found a trade partner for Garoppolo, but given that most of the quarterback-needy teams like the Chicago Bears, New England Patriots, or the New York Jets took care of that in the draft, it would be fairly surprising at this point if Jimmy G is moved before the season starts.

Other than that, the very obvious fact is Lance will make this team and maybe even be given a chance to make an impact as a rookie in 2021.
