49ers NFL Draft: 3 prospects who can replace Jordan Reed

49ers Target No. 3: Tre’ McKitty, Georgia
San Francisco grabbed Charlie Woerner out of Georgia in last year’s draft with the primary intention of making him a blocking tight end.
In some ways, Georgia tight end Tre’ McKitty is a bit of an opposite prospect, less known for his in-line blocking and a bit more for his pass-catching and movement skills.
McKitty, a transfer from Florida State, had a 4.75 40-yard time at his pro day following a senior year in which he recorded just six receptions for 108 yards over four games. And his entire body of work included 56 catches for 628 yards and three touchdowns:

At 6-foot-4 and 246 pounds, McKitty has the ideal size and strength for the position, although the play strength doesn’t always show up on tape. And as a blocker, he’s still something of a liability.
Despite that, he’s good enough at running routes over the middle while also being reliable with his hands and creating yards after the catch.
McKitty had plus efforts during the week of Senior Bowl practices, which likely prevent him from being a late selection in Rounds 6 or 7. Instead, should a team like the 49ers want to go after him, they’ll likely have to consider a fifth-round grade, perhaps slightly higher.
Good thing the Niners have five picks in that round.
