SF 49ers: Day Three | Round Four

After the early trades, the SF 49ers now just have one pick left in the 2021 NFL Draft. The 117th pick is the Niners’ seventh and final pick. Having started the day with nine picks across seven rounds and dropping that to seven within four, including two in the first round, is a pretty decent haul.

So with their final pick in the draft, San Francisco selects Cornell Powell from Clemson.

The 210-pound, 6-foot wide receiver put together a solid 2020 season. Finishing up with 882 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, he played himself into a lot of pre-draft conversations. Similar to JuJu Smith-Schuster in 2020, Powell plays physically and fights for every yard.

Exactly what a new quarterback would love to have at his disposal.

SF 49ers trade-heavy mock draft review

With all the rumors suggesting the SF 49ers are set on Mac Jones, it made sense for them to fall back in the draft and get him at a more suitable pick. By doing that, the Niners were able to build up their capital in this draft and make another move into the first round.

By having seven picks inside the first four rounds, San Francisco can add in true quality players and not have to worry about taking a bigger risk in the later rounds.

It’s unlikely to come to fruition. But if it did, the 49ers would add some significant quality to an already talented roster.
