NFL Draft Pick No. 32: Greg Newsome II, Cornerback, Northwestern

Looking to win their second Super Bowl in a row, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could look towards upgrading their weakest position at cornerback. Pass defense was their weakness in 2020, although that didn’t end up stopping them, thanks to quarterback Tom Brady and a stout pass rush.

Cornerback Greg Newsome has excellent technique and toughness, but some problems with injuries meant he didn’t have the collegiate career he could have.

Newsome had seven pass deflections and an interception in just three games in 2020 with Northwestern. He’s a very strong coverage corner and was able to show some impressive speed at his pro day.

The big knock on Newsome is his durability for the NFL. He could stand to get as big as possible without sacrificing his athletic ability to handle the pros better, but he certainly has the potential to be a good starting corner.
