NFL Draft Pick No. 15: DeVonta Smith, Wide Receiver, Alabama

If the Giants could trade down and still nab a steal in wide receiver DeVonta Smith here, that would cap an absolutely magnificent night for them.

Receiver has been a big weakness for the team since trading away Odell Beckham, and they need to provide young quarterback Daniel Jones with as many weapons as he can so he doesn’t have his development stifled.

Smith won the Heisman Trophy for 2020 on the back of a season which saw him catch 117 passes for 1,856 yards and 23 touchdowns, adding an extra touchdown in rushing as well.

Smith is a very fast, very twitchy receive who has the route running to break open easily. He served as the best weapon on a loaded Crimson Tide team and could find himself challenging Ja’Marr Chase for the top receiver in the draft class by the end of their respective rookie seasons.
