49ers Round 4 Pick, No. 117 Overall: Cornerback Kary Vincent Jr., LSU

One of the positions the Niners are expected to focus on in this year’s NFL Draft is cornerback. Indeed, cornerback was one of the most heavily predicted picks in the first round for San Francisco before last week’s blockbuster trade signaled it was all but zeroed in on a quarterback instead. However, some of the moves the 49ers made in free agency enabled them to wait a little longer before drafting a top-level prospect at cornerback.

In this mock, they wait until the fourth round to grab a talented player at the position: Kary Vincent Jr. from LSU.

Vincent was a core part of the LSU defense during its 2019 championship run. He has played both cornerback and safety, and despite being smaller than the prototypical NFL corner, he has the athleticism to play the position at a high level.

While he is not the lock to be an elite NFL talent the Niners would get in a first-round corner, Vincent has the potential to be an elite NFL player in the right system, and taking a shot on him gives San Francisco a chance to strengthen its cornerback room without using a top pick.
