49ers 7-round post-blockbuster trade mock 2021 NFL Draft
By Timmy Gibson
49ers Round 3 Pick, No. 102 Overall: Running Back Demetric Felton, UCLA
In this mock draft, Demetric Felton, one of the most intriguing and versatile offensive players in the 2021 draft, slips into the third round, and Kyle Shanahan cannot resist.
Felton is often considered a wide receiver by NFL Draft analysts. However, he shined most as a running back at UCLA after beginning his career as a receiver.
Quite frankly, Felton seems to be exactly the kind of player the 49ers have built their offense around. A shifty, versatile wide receiver/running back hybrid who can make plays from anywhere on the field. The Niners love to use their players in creative ways, and Felton has the skill set to both line up in the backfield or out wide as a receiver. After a solid career of playmaking at UCLA, Felton’s draft stock skyrocketed after a stellar performance at the Senior Bowl.
San Francisco’s running back room has a couple of empty spots, as Tevin Coleman signed with the New York Jets, and Jerick McKinnon made it clear he has no intentions on returning to the team.
The 49ers have shown they like to roll with multiple running backs, and Felton is the perfect addition. Considering the Niners have reportedly met with Felton, it seems incredibly unlikely the team passes on this near-perfect fit if he falls to the third round.
