49ers NFL Draft Target Rd. 5: Joe Tryon, Washington

EDGE Joe Tryon is a player who can also have an immediate impact at the pro level. His 6-foot-4, 251-pound frame is solid but a little slight. Adding a bit of weight and muscle during the draft process and heading into training camp will serve him well.

Tryon has the ability to rush with his hand in the dirt or standing up with great agility and fluidity.

With his explosive edge-rush capabilities, his upside with NFL-caliber coaching is off the charts.

Tryon sat out the 2020 season amid the pandemic. But his 2019 campaign with the Huskies was one of note. He racked up an impressive eight sacks and 12.5 tackles for a loss and showed the kind of burst indicative of a quality situational pass-rusher who can play with a lot of versatility depending on the scheme or what’s being asked of him.

Players in the mid-to-late rounds will move around a lot in the draft-analysis phase, but Tryon would be an incredible value pick if San Francisco lands him anywhere after the third round.
