49ers Free-Agent Target No. 2: Safety Kenny Vaccaro

Yes, it would be somewhat enticing for the 49ers to consider Titans wide receiver Corey Davis as an enticing free-agent target. But the 2021 draft is laden with talented wideouts, and the Niners already have their top two, Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel, in place already.

The draft isn’t deep with safety prospects, however, and San Francisco could potentially face a glaring hole at strong safety with Jaquiski Tartt likely departing in free agency.

While the 49ers have Tarvarius Moore and Marcell Harris penciled in as possible starters, it wouldn’t hurt to bring aboard some additional veterans to make up for some of the additional turnover elsewhere within the secondary, particularly if there’s a youth movement this offseason.

One such veteran, recently released safety Kenny Vaccaro, might be a wise choice to replace Tartt on the roster.

Vaccaro didn’t exactly develop into the superstar defensive back the New Orleans Saints were hoping for when they selected him at No. 15 overall back in 2013. And Vaccaro wasn’t the huge difference-maker for Tennessee either.

That said, the 30 year old has been much more durable than Tartt, and it’s likely the former would prove to be a safer option than trying to rely on unproven commodities like Moore and Harris.
