No. 2: Another draft prospect in Zach Wilson to sit behind Jimmy Garoppolo

Many 49ers fans are hoping BYU quarterback Zach Wilson falls down the draft board and land in John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan’s lap.

And for good reason.

Pros

If the 49ers want a Wilson and they can’t trade for Seattle Seahawks signal-caller Russell Wilson (a longshot anyway), a younger, cheaper option will do just fine.

Zach Wilson is being compared to Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes and other top dynamic quarterbacks. A large consensus is Wilson is the clear No. 2 quarterback in this year’s draft class behind Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence.

This would be another future starter path San Francisco could take. Wilson is essentially NFL-starter ready and can jump into almost any offense.

His arm strength is top-notch, agility is amazing and he’s not afraid to take a hit to gain extra yards. Plus he’s extremely accurate and takes care of the football.

Cons

The only real cons would be if he isn’t available when the 49ers want him. Wilson is could be the second overall selection in the draft. It’s highly unlikely he falls out of the top three, let alone the top five.

If the Niners think he could lead the team to the promised land in the future, how much are they willing to give up for him in a Round 1 blockbuster draft trade?
