49ers Round 7 Pick, No. 204 Overall: EDGE Malcolm Koonce

Just like last time, the final pick of the 49ers draft is another super productive college pass-rusher.

In fact, it’s the exact same player: Buffalo’s Malcolm Koonce.

As noted back in February, Koonce would need some work to build himself into an every-down type of linebacker, but as a rusher off the edge in passing situations, Koonce would add yet another element to an already excellent 49er pass rush.

Koonce, Nick Bosa, Jordan Smith, and Arik Armstead could even feature on the field together if the 49ers and new defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans wanted to get crazy, putting their best pass-rushers on the field at the same time.

Not much is expected from players at this point in the draft, but John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan have done well on day three of the draft so far, so maybe Koonce can be another diamond they find on the draft’s final day who can make an immediate impact on the 2021 squad.
