SF 49ers roster: Targeting one free agent for each position in 2021

SF 49ers Tight End: Gerald Everett
Just like linebacker, the Niners don’t need to make significant changes at tight end behind the All-Pro, George Kittle.
But that didn’t stop them from trying last year, eventually landing veteran free agent, Jordan Reed.
Reed is likely gone in 2021, though, and one can only think Kyle Shanahan would want a strong duo of pass-catching tight ends to create all kinds of mismatches few NFL defenses are adequately equipped to defend.
LA Rams tight end Gerald Everett finds himself in an interesting position. The Rams are one of the many teams facing serious salary cap troubles this offseason, and it’s likely Everett is a luxury item Los Angeles can’t afford to keep. Besides, the Rams’ plethora of other offensive weapons has pushed Everett into a third-tier target, although he still managed to haul in 417 yards on 41 catches in 2020.
Coming off his rookie contract, Everett is still young enough to provide elite-level production, especially for a No. 2 tight end behind Kittle.
