Just 10 picks later, the SF 49ers finish off their 2021 NFL Draft with another player for their defensive line.

More from SF 49ers Mock Draft

Like Shaka Toney, Buffalo’s Malcolm Koonce was a highly productive college player with a relentless motor. He ended his career with 17 sacks in 38 games, including five in six games this past season.

Koonce also racked up 22.5 tackles for loss during his career, utilizing his quickness and burst off the edge to wreak havoc in opposing teams’ backfields.

He has experience as both a hand-on-the-ground pass-rusher and a standup outside linebacker, although he only has three career pass breakups, suggesting he’d need seasoning in coverage against smaller, quick running backs that would be his responsibility in that position.

But as a depth pass-rusher, Koonce could provide a good burst as a reserve pass-rusher or potentially as an interesting fit in a NASCAR package of some kind.
