No. 4: EDGE Patrick Jones II, Pitt

EDGE. Panthers . Patrick Jones II. 4. player. 866.

It’s not a deep draft as far as outside pass-rushers go, and the Niners may need a complementary piece to pair with EDGE Nick Bosa, especially considering fellow edge rusher Dee Ford’s back injury could keep him out of the early phases of the 2021 season.

Pittsburgh EDGE Patrick Jones II is one of those few high-profile pass-rushers available in this year’s draft, and he had the statistical production at the college level with 17.5 sacks the last two seasons.

Those efforts continued during the Senior Bowl, too.

Jones made his presence felt during the game, working off the edge and getting to Georgia quarterback Jamie Newman for a sack.

The 6-foot-5, 260-pound Jones is a good fit for a 4-3 defense. And while he’s raw and needs some technique refinement, as a pure edge rusher, Jones could make for a great addition if he falls into Round 2 where San Francisco holds its own pick.
