Jimmy Garoppolo Suitor No. 2: Houston Texans
Speaking of Deshaun Watson and the Texans, that situation is obviously going to be one of the hottest to monitor over the offseason. Watson wants out and has made it plainly evident that’s his case. Houston, of course, would like to retain one of the league’s best young-star quarterbacks. But if the situation gets to a boiling point (and it seems awfully close to that), parting ways might be inevitable.
This, of course, would leave a massive void under center for a Texans team still in the hunt for a head coach. Yet the would-be substantial return in compensation for Watson opens up a slew of other possibilities.
Jimmy Garoppolo is clearly among those.
A key reason why is Texans newly hired general manager Nick Caserio, who is familiar with Garoppolo from their days together with the New England Patriots. Remember, Caserio and the Pats once thought Garoppolo was eventually going to be the heir apparent to their all-time great, Tom Brady, only to see that come to an end late in 2017.
Perhaps Caserio is looking at Garoppolo again as a key figurehead for Houston’s rebuild.
