SF 49ers 3-round mock NFL Draft with Round 1 trade-down
By Peter Panacy
Round 3, Pick No. 105 Overall (Compensatory): SF 49ers select CB Israel Mukuamu, South Carolina
It’s not yet clear where San Francisco’s compensatory selection in Round 3 will land, as comp picks aren’t announced by the league until later this spring.
But let’s take a wild guess it’ll be at No. 105 overall.

Remember that whole part about the SF 49ers potentially losing the bulk of their cornerback crop this offseason to free agency? Even if the Niners add a veteran name or two this offseason and make use of one of their early picks in the draft on the position, going after multiple corners would be a wise move for John Lynch and Co.
Staying with the long, lanky theme San Francisco has mostly employed at the boundary since 2017, South Carolina cornerback Israel Mukuamu (6-foot-4 and 205 pounds) makes a lot of sense.
For starters, the SF 49ers have enjoyed plucking former Gamecocks as of late, defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw being the latest draft addition from 2020.
A bit raw, Mukuamu still never hesitates to use his size to his advantage, showing a willingness to get dirty when tackling and often coming away with big-play moments, evidenced by his six interceptions over the last two seasons.
With the prior addition of Eric Stokes in Round 2, the Niners would potentially have their starting outside cornerback tandem with Mukuamu in the mix for the next few years at least.
