SF 49ers Playoff Win-Loss Record: 2-3

Only older SF 49ers fans may recall this, but those Niners teams of the late 1960s and early 1970s were actually pretty good.

Long before the days of the top two quarterbacks in San Francisco’s history, quarterback John Brodie was one of the team’s elite players. While never flashy nor overly impressive, Brody was consistent and helped the SF 49ers reach the playoffs three years in a row from 1970 through 1972.

Unfortunately, the Dallas Cowboys got in the way a lot.

As such, Brodie’s 2-3 postseason record, which marks all three playoff losses to Dallas, isn’t overly great. Especially when one factors in all three of those defeats included multi-interception games.

Still, he was effective enough in his first playoff win over the Vikings in 1970, and his 1972 postseason victory over Washington, in which he threw two touchdowns against no interceptions, was impressive.

Often forgotten by the Niners fanbase now, Brodie deserves some playoff recognition.
