No. 1: Inconsistent quarterback play

Inconsistent production from the quarterback spot is the final reason for San Francisco’s demise.

With a healthy Jimmy Garoppolo at the helm in 2019, the Niners finished 13-3, which earned them a trip to the Super Bowl. However, during an unprecedented year in 2020, the SF 49ers’ QB carousel was less than impressive.

The Niners rolled out three quarterbacks throughout the course of the season, and none of them have winning records: Garoppolo (3-3), Nick Mullens (2-6) and C.J. Beathard (1-1).

Of course, not all of the blame should fall on the quarterbacks since their offensive line was just as banged up as any other position. The O-line was forced to constantly shuffle the lineup and play guys out of their natural positions.

The one good thing about the Niners missing the playoffs? They finally get to rest, recover and HEAL, HEAL, HEAL!

2020 was not the year San Francisco envisioned after such an amazing run in 2019, but just like the rest of the world, it had no other choice but to persevere and keep on moving. Now with the focus shifting to offseason transitions, all eyes will be on Niners brass to get this train back on track.
