No. 3: Cowboys Running Back Ezekiel Elliott

Instead of committing to Dak Prescott, the Cowboys ensured their top threat on the ground and offensive powerhouse, running back Ezekiel Elliott, would continue to be a focal point.

2020 has been frustrating for Elliott, as he’s averaging a career-low 3.9 yards per carry on the season and has already tied a career high in fumbles with six. Part of the issue could be similar to what the SF 49ers are dealing with, a shoddy offensive line, but one has to wonder if the shift to Mike McCarthy’s offense has had its setbacks.

That said, Elliott’s prowess as one of the NFL’s most potent tailbacks makes him a bona fide threat.

The Niners have done a decent job this season stopping the run, and neither Buffalo nor Washington got over 100 yards rushing the previous two weeks.

But that stopped a streak of four games in a row where San Francisco gave up 100-plus yards on the ground. And if there was one player who could help break that threshold against the SF 49ers defense, it’s Elliott.

Even though he’s had just one 100-yard game this season, look for the bulk of Dallas’ offensive efforts to go through him this Sunday.
