No. 2: SF 49ers must have fun again

This one isn’t necessarily a stat filled, heavy dissection of both sides of the ball analysis. It’s just a simple task for the SF 49ers: Go out there and have fun.

Understandably, the season hasn’t gone their way… in more ways than one. They’re missing two of the most fun-loving personalities in quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and tight end George Kittle. They’ve had more injuries than anyone can count. And, they were evicted from their own stadium due to the COVID-19 pandemic and government restrictions in Santa Clara County.

But it’s getting more noticeable this team just isn’t loose anymore. Now, it’s hard to have fun when you’re losing games and watching your playoff hopes disappear. However, maybe it’s time head coach Kyle Shanahan or another player or coach, get some mood booster.

Remember last season when the team was feeling great and everyone thought they could conquer the world? Yeah, they need to have this feeling again. They need to dig deep and not play like they’re out of it already.

Last season Robert Saleh became an internet sensation for his celebrations when his defense made big stops. On Monday night, when the ESPN cameras spotlighted him after a big play, he wasn’t as animated as before.

It’s a small thing and many coaches don’t celebrate much, like New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. But when Saleh was bringing the energy, the defense was amping up its game and the offence was feeding off it.

Someone has to step up to bring some energy and fun back to the team. And who knows? Maybe a solid, dominating performance in Arizona is just what the doctor ordered.
