No. 2: SF 49ers Defensive Tackle Kentavius Street

Third-year defensive tackle Kentavius Street has now been associated with two of the more costly roughing-the-passer calls for the SF 49ers this season, the first being questionable against quarterback Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints, although Brees suffered a serious ribs injury during that particular play.

While that one was arguably iffy, Street’s roughing call against Bills quarterback Josh Allen at the 6:38 mark of the third quarter was wholly terrible. Allen’s throw sailed right and was incomplete, which would have put Buffalo at 3rd-and-18, setting up a chance for San Francisco to get a much-needed defensive stop with the Bills up only 17-10.

But Street hit Allen and was rightfully flagged, giving Buffalo a first down, and the Bills would score a touchdown two plays later.

Street hasn’t been much of a factor at all since the SF 49ers selected him in Round 4 of the 2018 NFL Draft despite him suffering a torn ACL during predraft workouts. Yes, he does have tremendous physical prowess. Yet it’s clear his role is merely that of a third-string defensive lineman, and the Niners would be wise to bump him down the rotation and give those snaps to other depth members of this unit instead.
