No. 4: Will Raheem Mostert go off vs. Bills defense?

The SF 49ers sorely missed their top running back, Raheem Mostert, in the three games leading up to their victory against the Rams, failing to reach even 60 yards rushing in those consecutive losses.

While Los Angeles did contain Mostert, thanks to a stout run defense, the Bills aren’t exactly prolific when it comes to stopping the run.

Case in point, Buffalo is allowing opponents to rush for 4.7 yards per carry, which is 27th best in the league ahead of Week 13. And opposing teams have gained 1,426 yards against the Bills, too, which ranks 25th. It’s not usually the case to see these kinds of numbers opposite a Buffalo offense known for generating a lot of success through the air and getting out to big leads early.

Getting Mostert and the ground game going against the Bills will be vital for San Francisco. Not only will it help keep Buffalo’s offense off the field, but it will protect Nick Mullens from having to rely too much on his arm against a still-good Bills pass defense.

Seeing how that storyline plays out will be provocative to say the least.
