SF 49ers QB Target No. 2: Kyle Trask, Florida

Another second-round product who could possibly work his way into Round 1 consideration depending on how he finishes the season and his spring workouts is Florida quarterback Kyle Trask.

Trask is going to be one of those players teams take a risk on. Like the Chicago Bears’ Mitchell Trubisky — that pick hasn’t worked out — Trask doesn’t exactly boast a lengthy stat sheet equipped with experienced starts under center.

But the lack of experience hasn’t exactly been a cause for concern. After all, his impressive 71.4 completion percentage against top-ranked competition is pretty exemplary, and no one will overlook his 34-to-3 touchdown-to-interception ratio over eight games.

Talk about a “wow” factor.

At 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds, Trask possesses the kind of arm strength that would give Kyle Shanahan and the SF 49ers an opportunity to do all sorts of things they weren’t able to previously do with Jimmy Garoppolo or Nick Mullens, namely pushing the ball downfield without sacrificing accuracy or opportunity at the intermediate levels.

There are some elements Trask will need to hone, particularly with his throwing angle and touch. But the tools are there to suggest Trask might be a bona fide long-term starter at the NFL level.

And potentially a first-round target for San Francisco if he continues to rise up big boards.
