No. 3: SF 49ers Cornerback Richard Sherman

This may come as a shock to most readers since cornerback Richard Sherman is one of the league’s biggest defensive stars, but the fact that he’s rarely healthy at this point in his career kind of negates that fact. He’s without a doubt someone the team should consider keeping due to the lack of cornerback depth, but he will likely demand a large sum of money to stick around, and his injury history is not doing him any favors there.

Also, let’s not forget the last time we saw Sherman in action, he was getting burned play after play by Arizona Cardinals wideout DeAndre Hopkins in Week 1.

Sherman missed every week since from Weeks 2 through 11.

I think Sherman is definitely past his prime and would not be surprised to see the SF 49ers let him walk in free agency this year. If he, for some reason, is open to signing a team-friendly deal, then maybe the team will keep him around. But Sherman is one of the league’s smartest players, as he knows exactly what kind of interest he would generate in free agency.

Look for the team and Sherman to part ways following the conclusion of this devastating season.
