5 cornerback prospects SF 49ers should scout for 2021 NFL Draft
SF 49ers Cornerback Target No. 5: Paulson Adebo, Stanford
Speaking of prospects who have elected to sit out the 2020 season, Stanford Cardinal cornerback Paulson Adebo is another player who elected to do so, yet may still be on the radar for San Francisco.
Adebo has consistently made plays in his college career, with four interceptions in both 2018 and 2019 with Stanford. He also had 17 passes defended in 2018, and 10 defended in 2019.
Like the other cornerbacks on this list, Adebo fits what the 49ers are looking for physically and mentally. He has the right size for it, and acumen for diagnosing plays and either snagging the interception or breaking the pass up.
The big question, similar to Caleb Farley, is how teams will view him given that he’s not had any film on him since 2019. Adebo did have some tape on him that was a bit problematic, such as his 2019 game against Central Florida, so it would have been nice to see for teams to see if he developed his game.
Similar to Farley, where teams might have him on his board is a mystery. He could be a first-round selection if teams like what they see in 2018 and 2019, but he may be overtaken by other cornerback prospects who did play in 2020.
