5 injured SF 49ers whose post-bye week returns help most

No. 3: SF 49ers Cornerback Richard Sherman
It’s pretty special to think the SF 49ers have allowed only 2,089 pass yards this season despite being without corners K’Waun Williams, Emmanuel Moseley and Richard Sherman for large chunks this season and without a potent pass rush.
Sustaining that might be difficult, however, so it’s going to be a boost for the Niners secondary to get Sherman back after he suffered a calf injury way back in Week 1.
Sherman has missed each game since, although the practice window opened up for him to return just ahead of the Saints game. While he might have been close to return from injured reserve, San Francisco elected to keep him unavailable for at least another two weeks, including the bye.
It might be a good move.
Getting Sherman back at full strength would allow the 49ers some solidarity at cornerback, putting him alongside cornerback Jason Verrett on the boundary and allowing some flexibility to move Moseley, an upgrade over Jamar Taylor, into the nickel role.
Simply put, Sherman’s return allows the Niners to have their best cornerbacks on the field at all times until Williams’ own return.
